Sciurus inauris Zimmermann 1780, p. 344 View in CoL . Type locality is “Kaffirland, 100 miles north of the Cape of Good Hope” ( Skurski and Waterman 2005).
A monotypical species which however includes three deeply divergent phylogeographic lineages ( Herron et al. 2005).
