Genus Picalgoides Černý, 1974

The genus Picalgoides Černý, 1974 comprises ten species associated mainly with birds of the order Piciformes ( Indicatoridae , Picidae and Rhamphastidae ) (see Buchholz 1869; Trouessart 1885; Stoll 1893; Černý 1974; Gaud 1988). Only three species are associated with birds of the order Passeriformes : P. glandarii ( Buchholz, 1869) and P. megalixus ( Trouessart, 1885) occur on birds of the family Corvidae , and P. giganteus Mironov et al. 2011 was recently described from Sclerurus mexicanus Sclater (Funariidae) (see Buchholz 1869; Trouessart 1885; Mironov et al. 2011).
