Abdomen shining black, with thin grayish pruinosity on dorsum of anterior 1/2–2/5 of 3rd tergite, still thinner pruinosity on anterior 1/2 of 4th and very thin on entire 5th. Etymology. This species is named due to its dark body color.
Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku), South Korea.
Remarks. In the male terminalia, this species resembles the following species, M. chaoi , but the cerci of M. atrata are more closely associated near middle for long distance and the surstylus is narrower with dense short pile on the inner wall. The epandrium bears only 2 pairs of strong setae in this species. This species appears in the spring to early summer and is distributed in the northernmost area among members of this genus.
