Length

3–6 mm.

Features for regional diagnosis

Females similar to Ruffomaera , but Ep3 smooth (serrate in Ruffomaera ) and Us1,2 without teeth. Males with Gn2 asymmetrical.

Distribution

Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Lee County, Hillsborough County; type locality from Biscayne Bay south to the Lower Florida Keys.

Ecology

Shallow, alga-covered and sponge-covered rubble, usually over a sand bottom ( Thomas and Barnard 1985; LeCroy 2000). 1–37 m depth.

Colour

In life, white with a pattern of wine-rose diffused blotches, bands and spots ( Thomas and Barnard 1985).
