Diagnosis. Cryptipus frenchi is morphologically similar to Archetypus , Utra and Teispes . It can be separated from Archetypus by its uniformly brown body and mentum not fused to submentum; it can be separated from Utra by relatively smaller body size, dorsum with sparse and fine punctures, and small but distinctly lobed tarsomere 3; it can be separated from Teispes by pro- and mesotibia without lateral spines, much longer tarsomere 5, and anterior margin of pronotum less emarginate.
