Pseudodendrothrips darci (Girault) View in CoL
( Figs 5 View FIGURES 1–10 , 43 View FIGURES 38–43 )
Proscirtothrips darci Girault, 1930: 1 View in CoL .
This Australian species is very similar to P. bhattii View in CoL as indicated above, but the pronotum usually has paired longitudinal dark markings ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–10 ), although these are often weak, whereas P. bhattii View in CoL never has such dark markings on the pronotum. Mound (1999) stated P. darci View in CoL was not distinguishable from P. bhatti collected from Morus View in CoL in Thailand, and suggested that P. darci View in CoL , P. bhattii View in CoL and P. mori View in CoL might represent a single species. However, at least females of this species may be distinguished from the two Japanese species by stout setae on abdominal tergite and sternite IX ( Figs 42, 43 View FIGURES 38–43 ). P. darci View in CoL is newly recorded from Ficus View in CoL spp. and Toxicodendron succedaneum View in CoL [ Anacardiaceae ] in Okinawa, Japan. Moreover, specimens from Morus View in CoL at Bangkok, Thailand that were identified as P. bhatti in Mound (1999) are now recognized as P. darci View in CoL , and specimens have also been studied from Morus View in CoL at Kolkata, India [L.Mound in litt. 16.x.2017].
