Aysenia araucana Ramírez, 2003: 65 View in CoL (male holotype and female paratype from Chile, Región VIII Del Bío-Bío, Biobío province, El Manzano, nr. Contulmo, ca. S 38° 01’, W 73° 20’, 3–5.III.1986, L. Peña; temporary preparation MGM-00012, deposited in AMNH, examined).

Diagnosis: Resembles A. segestrioides and A. cylindrica in general morphology and body color pattern, but can be distinguished by having a thin MA and the embolus intermediate in length in the male copulatory bulb, and by the moderately coiled female copulatory ducts ( Figs 7 View FIGURE 7 b–c).

Description: Male and female described by Ramírez (2003).

Distribution: Known from a few localities, in Antofagasta, Elqui, San Felipe de Aconcagua, Curicó, Biobío, Osorno and Valdivia provinces.

Other material examined: CHILE: Región VII de Maule, Provincia de Curicó: 20 km E Potrero Grande, El Relvo, S 35° 11.14', W 70° 56.1', 1100 m, fogging Nothofagus dombeyi , 8.V.2004, J. E. Barriga, 5 females [7 immatures presumably of the same species] (MACN-Ar 27073); 1 female, temporary preparation MGM-00010 (MACN-Ar 27072).
