Diagnosis. Overall body size same as the nominotypical subspecies (males 26.8– 44 mm long, 2–3.4 mm high, with (46+2+T)–(49+1+T) segments, adult males varied between the developmental stadia X–XI; females 34.4–42.8 mm long, 3.2–4.3 mm high, with (48+1+T)–(49+1+T) segments, in XI–XII developmental stadia). Male genitalia: the intact gonopod complex narrower than at the nominotypical subspecies ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14 – 16 .). In most cases this difference also obvious on dissected gonopods, too, from many directions (comparison of M. p. kochi and M. p. projectum on Figs. 15–16 View FIGURES 14 – 16 ). M. p. kochi female with thinner, more elongated dorsal ampulla than M. p. projectum females ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 a–b).

Remarks. According to Verhoeff (1907) when the shape of the promere is not clear, then the lack of an apical serrated lobe is decisive. However, the serration did occur in M. p. kochi males, too, but in many cases only visible with the stereomicroscope at high magnification from caudal view, (in contrast to the view of the same gonopod under a standard light microscope), ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14 – 16 ). Body size of adult individuals usually bigger than proposed in the original description (males 26–35 mm (Verhoeff 1907)), but never as big as the biggest M. p. projectum individuals.

Though vulvae of M. p. projectum and M. p. kochi females seem to be easily distinguished, those of M. p. deubeli are very similar to M. p. kochi .

One M. p. kochi female was found with globular dorsal ampulla, but its collecting locality is dubious. “Oelser Forst” appears on the label, probably with O. Schubart’s handwriting, and it could mean a forest in OleŠnica, Poland.
