Limnophora latilamellata Malloch, 1921: 165 , stat. rev.

( Figs 33–36)

Holotype male seen in BMNH; in good condition.

Diagnosis. Postsutural dorsocentrals 3; anterior postsutural intralar present; fore tibia with a median posterior seta; mid femur with 2 preapical setae; mid tibia with 1 posterior seta and without anterodorsal seta; hind tibia without a posterodorsal seta; lower katepisternal seta more or less equidistant from the other two; costal spine indistinct; sternite 5 as in Fig. 33.

Terminalia. Cercal plate and surstylus as in Figs 34–35. Aedeagal complex as in Fig. 36.

Notes. Until now ( Pont 1980), this has been considered to be one of the three subspecies of L. aculeipes (see the note above under L. aculeipes ). One male of L. a. latilamellata and one male paratype of L. a. eurymetopa were dissected and their genital morphology is identical, but different from that of L. a. aculeipes . The subspecies L. a. latilamellata is herewith reinstated as a full species with L. a. eurymetopa as a junior synonym (syn. nov.).
