Carpilius convexus View in CoL — Garth, 1973: 315, 317,318, 329, 330; Retamal, 1981: 32, fig. 171 (list); 2004: 66, fig. 14; Baez & Ruiz, 1985: 103; Castilla & Rozbaczylo, 1987: 209 (list); DiSalvo, et al. 1988: 457, 465, 470; Poupin, 2003: 11, 29 (list); Retamal & Moyano, 2010: 315 (list); Retamal & Arana, 2016: 23 (list); Escalante & Arancibia, 2016: 80 (list).

Material examined. 1 female (72.0× 55.4 mm), Easter Island, coll. J. Bird, 1973 (dry, AMNH 17880 View Materials ) . Geographical distribution. Indo-West Pacific and Clipperton Island (Tropical Eastern Pacific region) ( Castro 2011).

Remarks. According to DiSalvo et al. (1988), this species is the major crab species collected by islanders for food and pressure on it has increased because lobsters, once the staple crustacean food, are now uncommon in shallow waters due to over-harvesting.
