Shrub 1.3– 4 m. Young branchlets rounded quadrangular, interpetiolar flaps present. Lamina cordate, above glabrous and slightly bullate, beneath setulous only on the veins.

Distribution in Peru:—In shrubby patches next to montane forests on eastern slopes, among 2100 and 3050 m.
