Pseudoanthidium (Pseudoanthidium) tenellum ( Mocsáry, 1880) View in CoL

( Figs 1a–h View FIGURE 1 )

Anthidium tenellum Mocsáry, 1880: 48 View in CoL . Syntypes ♂ ♀, [ Hungary] “ Hungaria centrali et meridionali“, HNHM, examined.

Paranthidiellum campulodonta Wu, 1990: 246 View in CoL . Holotype: ♂, China, Inner Mongolia, Alxa Meng, Ejin Qi, 20.VI.1986, leg. Jun- Shan BAO, IZCAS, examined. New synonym.

Pseudoanthidium (s. str.) campulodonta ( Wu, 1990) View in CoL : Wu, 2006: 188, ♂, fig. 104.

Diagnosis: Male. Body length 6.5mm; body black, metasomal terga with reddish maculations ( Figs 1a, 1e View FIGURE 1 ); mandible with 3 teeth; paraocular area maculated only up to the level of the antennal socket ( Fig. 1b View FIGURE 1 ); gonostylus expanded subapically and widely, shallowly notched apically. ( Fig. 1f View FIGURE 1 ); apical margin of S7 emarginate medially ( Fig. 1g View FIGURE 1 ).

Material examined: Inner Mongolia, Alxa Meng, Ejin Qi (41º54′N, 101º00′E), 1 ♂, 20. VI GoogleMaps .1986, leg. Jun- Shan BAO (holotype) .

Distribution: China (Inner Mongolia).

Remarks: The male holotype of Paranthidiellum campulodonta is not distinguishable from Pseudoanthidium tenellum (Mocsáry) described from Hungary and known to be present eastward as far as Tajikistan ( Ascher & Pickering 2021). The male sterna and genitalia are the same based on comparison of the holotype of P. campulodonta with topotypical specimens of P. tenellum . The only discernible distinction is the slightly coarser punctation of T5 and T 6 in the male, which is known to vary in some other species of Pseudoanthidium s. str. The shape of the gonostylus is unique among known Pseudoanthidium s. str.
