Type locality: Ecuador, Loja, Zamora, 1800 m.

Holotype ♀ with labels: (1) printed on white paper: “Loja, Zamora | Ecuador, 1800 m. | XI. 1970 | L. E. Peña col.”; (2) handwritten on red paper glued on white paper: “ Dactylothrix | ♀ indicatrix | HOLÓTIPO”; (3) handwritten on white paper: “ Dactylothrix | indicatrix | gen. sp. n. ♂”; (4) printed on red paper: “Holotipo”; (5) printed on white paper: “67”; (6) printed on green paper: “ MZSP ”.

Condition of type: terminal part of abdomen with genitalia in microvial with glycerin pinned below the specimen. Missing parts: left antenna and right wing.
