Etymology. The specific name is based on the fore wing without areolet. Material examined. Holotype: Female, CHINA: Kuandian County, 500 m, Liaoning Province, 4 June 2001, leg. Mao-Ling Sheng.

Diagnosis. Fore wing without areolet. First tergum without longitudinal groove. Second to seventh terga with dense, short, brown hairs.

Description. Female. Body length approximately 7.5 mm. Fore wing length approximately 6.5 mm. Antenna length approximately 7.0 mm. Ovipositor sheath about 0.6 mm.

Head. Inner orbits almost parallel, slightly impressed nearby antennal socket. Face ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 b) approximately 1.6x as wide as long, with dense punctures; upper-median portion slightly convex; upper margin with small median tubercle. Clypeus approximately 3.48x as wide as long, smooth, with fine, dense, transverse wrinkles and sparse punctures; subapical margin slightly ridge-shape convex; apical margin thin, almost truncate. Mandible strong, upper and lower margins ridge-shaped convex. Upper tooth slightly shorter than lower tooth. Cheek slightly granularly coriaceous. Malar space approximately 0.4x as long as basal width of mandible. Gena relatively smooth, with indistinct fine punctures, weakly convergent backwardly, in lateral view approximately 0.8x as long as width of eye. Vertex ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 c) almost smooth, fine coriaceous texture, posterior portion between lateral ocellus and occipital carina with fine, indistinct punctures. Interocellar area weakly convex. Postocellar line approximately as long as ocular-ocellar line. Frons almost flat, with texture as that of vertex. Antenna with 34 flagellomeres; ratio of length from first to fifth flagellomeres approximately: 2.1:1.4:1.4:1.3:1.3. Occipital carina complete.

Mesosoma. Propleuron smooth, shining. Anterior margin of pronotum with indistinct longitudinal lines, lateral concavity and posterior margin with indistinct short transverse wrinkles, upper-posterior portion shining, with indistinct, sparse, fine punctures. Epomia weak and short. Mesoscutum distinctly convex, almost flat dorsally, with even and sparse punctures, distance between punctures 1.0–3.0x diameter of puncture, denser on posteriormedian portion. Anterior portion of mid lobe convex. Anterior portion of notaulus relatively deep. Scutoscutellar groove wide and deep, almost smooth. Scutellum evenly convex, with distinct punctures, posterior portion coarse. Postscutellum strongly, transversely convex, anterior portion deeply transversely concave. Mesopleuron ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 d) with distinct, sparse punctures, distance between punctures 1.0–3.0x diameter of puncture; upper-posterior portion largely smooth and shining. Epicnemial carina strong, upper end approximately reaching to 0.65 distance to subalar prominence, distant from front margin of mesopleuron. Mesosternum with dense punctures, distance between punctures 0.2–1.0x diameter of puncture. Metapleuron distinctly, evenly convex, shining, anterior portion with sparse punctures. Without juxtacoxal carina. Submetapleural carina complete, anterior portion slightly convex. Wings slightly brownish, hyaline. Fore wing with vein 1cu-a distal to 1/M approximately by 0.3x length of 1cu-a, without areolet. Vein 2m-cu distal to 2rs-m approximately by 0.3x length of 2rs-m. Vein 2-Cu approximately as long as 2cu-a. Hind wing vein 1-cu approximately 1.5x as long as cu-a. Ratio of length of hind tarsomeres from first to fifth approximately: 5.7:2.9:2.3:1.4:2.3; fifth tarsomere slightly, evenly curved. Propodeum medially smooth, lateral portion with sparse grey hairs. Posterior portion of lateral longitudinal carinae, lateral sides of posterior median area, shortly present. Propodeal spiracle oval.

Metasoma. First tergum approximately 1.6x as long as apical width, strongly convergent forwardly. Basal portion of median dorsal carina vestigial. Dorsolateral and ventrolateral carinae complete. Spiracle circular, small, convex, located approximately at middle of first tergum. Second to seventh terga with dense, short, brown hairs. Second tergum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 e) approximately 0.8x as long as apical width. Third tergum 0.9x as long as basal width. Ovipositor sheath approximately 0.4x as long as apical depth of metasoma.

Color ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 a). Black, except the following. Flagellum reddish brown, except dorsal profile slightly dark. Clypeus except basal margin, mandible except teeth, maxillary palpi, labial palpi, tegulae, fore and mid legs except coxae and trochanters blackish brown, yellowish brown. Hind legs brownish black, except femora and ventral profiles of tibiae slightly reddish brown. Stigma filemot. Veins darkish brown.

Remarks. This new species can be easily distinguished from all other species of Polycinetis by the fore wing lacking an areolet.

Etymology. The name of the new species is based on the truncate apex of ovipositor sheath.

Material examined. Holotype: Female, CHINA: Tonghua, Jilin Province, 30 June 1992, leg. Mao-Ling Sheng. Paratypes: 1 female, CHINA: Daxinggou, Wangqing County, Jilin province, 9 July 1994, leg. Mao-Ling Sheng. 1 female, CHINA: Xinbin County, Liaoning provinve, 20 June 1998, leg. Mao-Ling Sheng. 1 male, CHINA: Baishilazi National Natural Reserve, 400 m, Kuandian, Liaoning Province, 1 June 2001, leg. Mao-Ling Sheng. 1 female, CHINA: Baiyunshan National Natural Reserve, 1400 m, Songxian, Henan Province, 22 July 2003, leg. Gui Xue.

Diagnosis. First tergum approximately 2.0x as long as apical width. Apex of ovipositor sheath truncate. Antenna and hind femur blackish brown. Hind coxa black.

Description. Female. Body length 9.5–13.5 mm. Fore wing length 7.0–10.0 mm. Antenna length 8.0– 10.5 mm.

Head. Inner orbits almost parallel, slightly impressed nearby antennal socket. Face ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 b) 1.5–1.6x as wide as long, with fine, dense punctures, distance between punctures 0.2–1.0x diameter of puncture; upper-median portion evenly convex. Clypeal suture distinct. Clypeus approximately 4.0x as wide as long, with dense, transverse wrinkles; subapical margin stongly ridge-shape convex; apical margin sharp, slightly concave, sublateral blunted angular. Mandible strong, with elongate punctures; lower tooth evidently longer than upper tooth. Malar space 0.2–0.3x as long as basal width of mandible. Gena almost shining, with indistinct fine punctures and brown hairs, convergent backwardly, in lateral view 0.6–0.7x as long as width of eye. Vertex ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 c) slightly coriaceous, with fine, indistinct punctures. Postocellar line 1.1–1.2x as long as ocular-ocellar line. Frons concave, coriaceous, with distinct punctures; medially relatively convex. Antenna with 36–38 flagellomeres; ratio of length from first to fifth flagellomeres approximately: 2.4:1.8:1.7:1.7:1.6. Occipital carina complete, strong.

Mesosoma. Propleuron shining, with fine, sparse, indistinct punctures. Anterior margin of pronotum with fine indistinct punctures; median portion of lateral concavity with indistinct oblique transverse wrinkles; upperposterior portion with fine, dense, distinct punctures. Epomia relatively strong, upper end almost reaching dorsal margin of pronotum. Mesoscutum smooth, with fine punctures, distance between punctures 0.5–2.0x diameter of puncture, anteriorly and posteriorly sparser and finer. Anterior portion of mid lobe evenly slanting forward. Anterior portion of notaulus relatively deep. Scutellum distinctly convex, with fine, indistinct punctures, distance between punctures 1.5–4.0x diameter of puncture; lateral portion with relative long grayish brown hairs. Postscutellum shining, strongly, transversely convex, anterior portion deeply transversely concave. Mesopleuron ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 d) with fine punctures, distance between punctures 1.0–2.5x diameter of puncture; speculum large, smooth and shining. Upper end of epicnemial carina approximately reaching to half distance to subalar prominence, distant from front margin of mesopleuron. Mesosternum with denser punctures than that on mesopleuron, distance between punctures 0.5–1.5x diameter of puncture. Metapleuron smooth, shining, evenly convex. Without juxtacoxal carina. Submetapleural carina complete, marginate. Wings slightly brownish, hyaline. Fore wing with vein 1cu-a distal to 1/M approximately by 0.25x length of 1cu-a. Areolet slanting quadrangular; with long petiole, which as long as or slightly longer than 2rs-m; receiving vein 2m-cu lightly basal of lower-posterior corner. Hind wing vein 1-cu approximately 1.2–1.5x as long as cu-a. Ratio of length of hind tarsomeres from first to fifth approximately: 7.3:3.8:2.8:1.5:2.3; fifth tarsomere evenly curved. Propodeum smooth, shining, evenly convex, lateral portion with fine, sparse punctures. Propodeal spiracle circular.

Metasoma. Smooth and shining. Apical portion relatively compressed. First tergum approximately 2.0x as long as apical width, with fine, sparse, irregular punctures, strongly convergent forwardly, median portion with deep longitudinal groove. Basal portion of median dorsal carina vestigial. Dorsolateral and ventrolateral carinae complete. Spiracle circular, small, located approximately at middle of first tergum. Second and third terga with fine, indistinct punctures. Second tergum ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 e) approximately 0.8–0.85x as long as apical width. Third tergum 0.86–0.9x as long as basal width. Ovipositor sheath 0.3–0.4x as long as apical depth of metasoma, apex truncate.

Color ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 a). Black, except the following. Flagellum brownish black. Clypeus except base, mandible except teeth, maxillary palpi, labial palpi and tegulae brownish yellow. All coxae entirely and trochanters except apexes black. Fore and mid legs yellowish to reddish brown. hind femora blackish brown. Hind tibiae except reddish brown bases, and tarsus black. Stigma and veins darkish brown.

Male. Body length approximately 10.5 mm. Fore wing length approximately 8.0 mm. Antenna length approximately 8.5 mm. Antenna with 37 flagellomeres. Stigma yellowish brown.

Remarks. Similar to X. (Polycinetis) ustulata (Desvignes) , but can be distinguished from the latter by the following combination of characters: apex of ovipositor sheath truncate; flagellum brownish black; coxae black; hind femur blackish brown. Xenoschesis (Polycinetis) ustulata : apex of ovipositor sheath more or less arc-shape ( Figs 3–5 View FIGURE 3 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 ); flagellum reddish brown; coxae and hind femur yellowish to reddish brown.
