Diagnosis. Apterous ♀ of Gonatopus with palpal formula 5/3; pronotum crossed by strong transverse furrow; me- soscutum without two lateral pointed apophyses; meso-metapleural suture distinct and complete; metapectal-propo- deal disc without strong median longitudinal furrow; enlarged claw ( Fig. 187B View FIGURE 187 with apex tapering, one big subdistal tooth and one row of lamellae (subdistal tooth located very close to more distal lamella).
Description. ♀ ( Fig. 185 View FIGURE 185 ). Apterous; body length 2.8 mm. Head brown, except mandible and clypeus testa- ceous; antenna brown; mesosoma, metasoma and legs brown. Antenna clavate; antennomeres in following proportions: 7:5:15:10:8:6:6:5:5:7. Head excavated, dull, granulate; frontal line complete; occipital carina absent; POL = 2; OL = 2; OOL = 10; greatest breadth of lateral ocelli about as long as OL. Palpal formula 5/3. Pronotum shiny, crossed by strong transverse impression, unsculptured, except many longitudinal striae on disc and lateral regions. Mesoscutum dull, sculptured by many longitudinal striae, laterally without two pointed apophyses ( Fig. 183C View FIGURE 183 ). Metanotum rugose, deeply excavated behind mesoscutellum ( Fig. 183D View FIGURE 183 ), with sides protruding; lateral protrusions slightly pointed ( Fig. 183C View FIGURE 183 ). Metapectal-propodeal disc dull, sculptured by many slight longitudinal striae; propodeal declivity, mesopleuron and metapleuron transversely striate. Meso-metapleural suture distinct and complete. Protarsomeres in following proportions: 14:3:6:14:23. Enlarged claw ( Fig. 187B View FIGURE 187 with one big subdistal tooth and one row of seven lamellae (subdistal tooth located very close to more distal lamella). Protarsomere 5 ( Fig. 187B View FIGURE 187 ) with two rows of 2+6 lamellae; apex with at least 25 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1/0/1.

Distribution. South Africa.
Etymology. The species is named after Prof. Clarke Scholtz (University of Pretoria), beetle specialist, on whose farm, Kelkiewyn, one of the authors (SVN) collected the specimen. He kindly allowed SVN to run traps on the farm.
