Diagnosis. Apterous ♀ of Gonatopus with palpal formula 6/3; temple without sharp carina; mesosoma mostly black; pronotum crossed by transverse furrow; mesoscutum less than twice as long as broad, without lateral pointed prominences; meso-metapleural suture distinct and complete; metanotum deeply excavated behind mesoscutellum; mesopleuron without lateral pointed prominence; metapectal-propodeal disc with slight track of median longitudi- nal furrow; mesopleuron, metapleuron and propodeal declivity granulate and strongly transversely striate; protarso- mere 1 slightly shorter than 4; enlarged claw ( Fig. 204F View FIGURE 204 ) with small subapical tooth; protarsomere 5 without inner proximal serrate region, with one row of 12 lamellae and apex unusually long.
Description. ♀ ( Fig. 205 View FIGURE 205 ). Apterous; body length 3.1 mm. Head black, except mandible brown-testaceous; antenna brown; mesosoma black, except lateral margins brown; metasoma brown; legs brown-testaceous. Antenna clavate; antennomeres in following proportions: 10:6:17:11:9:8:7:6:6:8. Head weakly excavated, dull, granulate; frontal line complete; occipital carina absent; POL = 2; OL = 1.5; OOL = 9; greatest breadth of posterior ocellus about as long as POL. Palpal formula 6/3. Pronotum shiny, crossed by transverse furrow, with disc smooth, unsculptured, and anterior collar and lateral regions granulate. Mesoscutum less than twice as long as broad, granulate, without lateral pointed apophyses ( Fig. 207B View FIGURE 207 ). Mesoscutellum shiny, smooth, sloping anteriorly. Metanotum excavated behind mesoscutellum ( Fig. 207C View FIGURE 207 ). Metapectal-propodeal disc ( Fig. 207B View FIGURE 207 ) fusiform, dull, with anterior surface and top granulate; propodeal declivity granulate and strongly transversely striate; disc with track of median longitudinal furrow. Mesopleuron and metapleuron dull, granulate and transversely striate. Meso-metapleural suture distinct and complete. Protarsomeres in following proportions: 15:3:6:16:26. Enlarged claw ( Fig. 204F View FIGURE 204 ) with one small subapical tooth and two bristles. Protarsomere 5 ( Fig. 204F View FIGURE 204 ) without inner proximal serrate region, with one row of 12 lamellae; apex unusually long ( Fig. 204F View FIGURE 204 ), with about 10 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1/0/1.

Types: ♀ holotype: SOUTH AFRICA: Northern Cape, Avontuur Farm , 16 km NW Nieu- woudtville, 31°16.249’S 19°02.900’E, 764 m, 9.II–1.IV.2010, YPT, Bokkeveld Sandstone Fynbos, S. van Noort leg., SAM-HYM-P039012 ( SAMC). Paratypes: same locality label as holotype, SAM-HYM-P039012 GoogleMaps , 1♀ ( SAMC); same locality label as holotype, 27.X.2009 – 9.II.2010 GoogleMaps , 1♀ ( MOLC) .

Distribution. South Africa.
Etymology. The species is named avontuurensis after the collection site in Avontuur Farm.
