Diagnosis. Macropterous ♀ of Gonatopus with palpal formula 6/3; pronotum crossed by deep transverse furrow; forewing with two dark transverse bands; propodeal declivity with two incomplete longitudinal keels; enlarged claw ( Fig. 245A View FIGURE 245 ) with one large subapical tooth and one row of 8–14 lamellae.
Description. ♀ ( Fig. 246 View FIGURE 246 ). Fully winged; body length 3.2–4.1 mm. Head black, except mandible and clypeus testaceous (in paratypes area between antennal toruli also testaceous); antenna brown, except ventral side of antennomere 1 testaceous-whitish (in paratype last two antennomeres testaceous); mesosoma black; metasoma brown; legs brown, except articulations and tarsi testaceous. Head dull, bare, granulate; occipital carina incomplete, only present behind and shortly on sides of lateral ocelli; POL = 3; OL = 3; OOL = 8; OPL = 1; greatest breadth of lateral ocelli shorter than OL (2:3). Palpal formula 6/3. Pronotum shiny, bare, granulate, crossed by strong transverse furrow; posterior edges of pronotum rounded, not produced into lobes. Mesoscutum shiny, bare, very slightly granulate. Notauli complete, posteriorly very close and strongly converging; minimum distance between notauli shorter than POL (1:3). Mesoscutellum shiny, punctate, unsculptured among punctures. Metanotum very reduced and short, reticulate rugose. Metapectal-propodeal disc reticulate rugose, with tracks of two median longitudinal keels; propodeal declivity with two incomplete longitudinal keels. In paratype from South Africa, 31°12.923’S 19°40.812’E, metapectal-propodeal disc reticulate rugose, without tracks of two median longitudinal keels. Forewing with two dark transverse bands; distal part of 2r-rs&Rs vein much longer than proximal part (17:6). Hind wing with distal region dark. Protarsomeres of holotype in following proportions: 18:3:6:15:27. In paratype protarsomere 1 slightly shorter than 4 (21:22). Enlarged claw ( Fig. 245A View FIGURE 245 ) with one large subapical tooth and one row of 8–14 lamellae. Protarsomere 5 ( Fig. 245A View FIGURE 245 ) with two rows of 18–27 lamellae; apex with at least 25 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1/0/1.

Distribution. South Africa.
Etymology. The species is named costalis after the collection site in the West Coast Fossil Park ( costalis is a Latin adjective meaning “living on the coast”).
