Original description ( Oberthür 1911): Illustration only, plate 5, Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10–20 , no written description. “Placed close to regius Staudinger. ”
Female: unknown.
Etymology. Presumably named for the rose-coloured tint of the hindwings.
Flight period. Unknown.
Remarks. Elongate dark shaded patch present between outer anterior discal cell and basal Rs4-M 1 and M 1 -M 2 cells ( Fig. 30f View FIGURE 30 ) similar to M. miniatus ( Fig. 30d View FIGURE 30 ). Originally described and illustrated for a single male specimen which is recognized here as the lectotype. Sympatric with M. bouvieri ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 31–32 ).
