Schoenoplectiella isolepioides Doweld , sp. nov.
— ‘ Scirpus (Schoenoplectus) isolepioides ’ Mai & Walther (1988: 91) , nom. inval. (ICN, Art. 36.2).
Description:—Fruits obovate, small, 1.4–1.8 mm long and 0.9–1.4 mm wide; length/width ratio 1.1–1.3. Basis with 4 bristles, very easily discarded. Fruit surface smooth, glossy, with a minute, indistinct cell sculpturing [after Mai & Walther 1988].
Type:—MMG Mai 671 (Senckenberg Naturhistorische Sammlungen, Dresden, Germany)—figured by Mai & Walther 1988: pl. 13, fig. 33.
Geography:—Rippersroda, Plaue, Ilm-Kreis, Thüringen, Germany.
Stratigraphy:—Pliocene.
Fossil status:—Fruits.

Note:—The fossil-species is most likely compared with extant Schoenoplectiella smithii (Gray) Hayasaka (2012: 183) .
