Phileurus toulgoeti Dechambre, 1996 ( Fig. 2 View Figs )
Phileurus toulgoeti Dechambre 1996: 92 (original combination).
Phileurus toulgoeti is known only from French Guiana. This species has extremely dense punctation on the pronotum and elytral intervals, more so than in any other species of Phileurus . The median processes of the parameres are long and curved similar to those of P. zonianis , but the apices of each lobe are directed nearly horizontally in caudal view ( Fig. 2 View Figs ), whereas the lobes in P. zonianis are directed downwards ( Figs. 5–6 View Figs ). In addition, the prosternal process is setose in P. toulgoeti and glabrous in the specimens of P. zonianis . Nothing is known of the natural history of this uncommon species.
