Material studied: syntype female ( HNHM, double mounted on a (?) silver minuten, right wing missing but otherwise in a good state of preservation): 1) [printed card, 11× 4 mm] N. Guinea, Biró 1899; 2) [printed card, 11× 4 mm] Sattelberg, Huon Golf [on reverse side] “ V.”; 3) [dirty white paper, 16× 10 mm] “ Hypselothyrea lanigera n sp f det DUDA ” (DUDA’ s handwriting), 4) [red margined Syntypus label of the HNHM] “ Hypselothyrea lanigera Duda, G. Bächli det. 1983” (G. BÄCHLI’ s handwriting) .
Thisspecimenagreesineveryrespectwiththespecies,whichOKADA (1980) described and keyed. Ventral surface of scutellum and tergites 4–6 covered with dense white setulae. H. paralanigera sp. n. is not closely related, e.g. fore tibia is

light in this species and black in H. paralanigera . I do not detect lateral scutellar setae,bodyismainlyblackandfrontalshieldgranulose,while H.paralanigera has smallbutdistinctlateralscutellars,itsthoraxislighterandfrontalshieldisshiny.
