Diagnosis. Size. Length, male, 3.15–3.40mm; female, 3.01mm. Width, male, 1.74–1.91mm; female, 1.69mm. As for T. harbini but pronotal scales finer, elytral scales elongate, suberect, simple. Procoxae narrowly separated. Aedeagus as in Fig. 299 View FIGURES 298–300 .

Geographical distribution. México ( México).

Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of oak-pine-madrone forest leaf litter at an elevation of 2150m.

Derivation of specific name. Through his support of the Nature Discovery Fund at the Canadian Museum of Nature, this species is named after Stéphane Michaud of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, as a gift from Mario Lalanne.

Material examined. 3♂, 1♀ ( CMNC, CWOB, MCZC) . Holotype ♂ ( MCZC): MÉXICO: México. 7 mi. N.E. Temascaltepec, 7000', ix.12–15.1973 / berlese litter pine-madrone-oak forest, A. Newton / HOLO- TYPE ♂ , Theognete michaudi sp. nov., R.S. Anderson. Aedeagus extracted. Paratypes: MÉXICO. México. Temascaltepec (7 mi. N.E.), 7000', 12–15.IX.1973, A. Newton, berlese pine madrone oak forest litter (2♂, 1♀ CMNC, CWOB) .

Chorological relationships. Not sympatric with any other species of Theognete .
