( Figs. 11, 16)
Dindymus vinulus Stål, 1863: 400 . Holotype: ♂, Philippines, Manila (NHRS).
Dindymus vinulus: Stål (1870) : 110 (catalogue, distribution); Stål (1871): 666 (list, diagnosis); Walker (1873): 3 (catalogue, distribution); Taeuber (1927): 188 –189 (variability, distribution); Hussey (1929): 64 (catalogue, distribution); Schmidt (1932): 252 (distribution); Jackson & Barrion (2004): 486 (distribution).
Bionomy. Unknown.
Distribution. Philippines: Basilan ( Taeuber 1927), Leyte ( Taeuber 1927), Mindanao ( Taeuber 1927), Siargao ( Taeuber 1927). Stål (1863) gave Manila on the Luzon Island as the type locality; however, lacking any additional records from Luzon, this seems to be a mistaken locality (see also Taeuber 1927). The record from Malaysia: Pinang Island ( Schmidt 1932, as Pulo Penang) is apparently a misidentification.
Note. Dindymus vinulus is morphologically variable species and it is quite possible that some of the island population will deserve subspecific status. To avoid later confusions, I am referring to the typical form as D. vinulus vinulus .
