Genus Grigoriora Gorochov, 1993 View in CoL
Grioriora: Gorochov, 1993, Zoosystematica Rossica, 2(1):86; Otte, 1997, Orthoptera Species File, 7:96; Gorochov, 1998, Zoosystematica Rossica, 7(1):116; Sänger & Helfert, 2004, Senckenbergiana Biologica, 84(1–2):55; Gorochov, 2008, Trudy Zoologicheskogo Instituta, 312(1–2):42.
Type species: Grigoriora dicata Gorochov, 1993
Diagnosis: Last segment of maxillary palpi as long as the preceding one, thoracic acoustical opening fully exposed. 10th abdominal tergite of male with a pair of processes posteriorly; cerci of male short and simple without distinct lobes or processes; apical portion of genitalia sclerotized, styli small. Female subgenital plate with median incision; ovipositor long and straight with a small apical hook.
Discussion: Above characters are key features based on type species Grigoriora dicata , but the other species of this genus recorded by Gorochov (1998) are very different based on the following possessed by the type: processes of male 10th abdominal tergite indistinct or absent; male cerci long; subgenital plate of female not notched. Gorochov noted it is possible those species belong to different subgenera. Here we treat Grigoriora in a more restricted sense. We include species bearing a pair of process posteriorly at male 10th abdominal tergite, with short and simple male cerci, and with notched hind edge of the female subgenital plate, ovipositor long and straight.
