Salfacarus legendrei Hammen 1977: 54–60 , figs. 5–8 (original description); Vázquez & Klompen 2010: 2 (new diagnosis, redescription).

Holotype: F (unknown whereabouts). MADAGASCAR, Ambohibao , forest of Eucalyptus , near Tananarive, under rocks; DEC.1958; coll Prof. Dr. R. Legendre.

Paratypes: 1 F (B-20, RMNH), 1 M, 2 F, 2 TN (unknown whereabouts), same data as holotype. 1 TN (B-9, RMNH), 1 M, 1 F (unknown whereabouts), Plateau Mahafaly , Madagascar; zone with “dolines”, near the “aven Andramanoetse Be”, under rocks; 28.JUL.1967; leg. Dr. J.M. Betsch ; 1 TN (B-19, RMNH). Morandawa region , Madagascar, Andranomena Forest, Marafandila; under dead wood; 16.DEC.1969; leg. Dr. J.M. Betsch.

Distribution: Ambohibao, Andranomena ( Madagascar).

Notes: One female in a sample from Ambohibao, preserved in tube nr. Β4, was selected as a holotype according to Hammen (1977). The female paratype (B-20) and two tritonymphs (B-9, from Mahafaly and B-19 from Marafandila) deposited in the RMNH where studied by Klompen & Vázquez (2009), respectively identified as S. legendrei , S. mahafaliensis and S. kirindiensis .

Etymology: Dedicated to Prof. Dr. R. Legendre, Université des Sciences et Techniques du Languedoc, Montpellier, who first discovered the species.
