Taphozous flaviventris Peters, 1867 View in CoL
Peters, W. C. H. (1867c) On Taphozous flaviventris, Gould , a new species of bat from Australia. Proceedings of the Zoological Society London, 1867 [for 1866]: 430.
Valid name: Saccolaimus flaviventris (Peters, 1867)
Referred specimen (marked with type *): ZMB 6995 View Materials , skin and skull; Queensland, Australia; collector unknown; purchased from Rolle .
Comment: Peters’ description is based on a single specimen, borrowed from [and sent back to] Gould. The collector of the specimen ZMB 6995 View Materials is unknown, but H. Rolle traded natural history objects world-wide between 1890 and 1918. Since the holotype is a male in alcohol (skull extracted) with inventory number AM 137 (Palmer register) in the collections of the Australian Museum Syndney, ZMB 6995 View Materials cannot be a type specimen of T. flaviventris .
