Dobson, G. E. (1871) On a new genus and species of Rhinolophidae , with description of a new species of Vesperus , and notes on some other species of insectivorous bats from Persia. Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bengal, 40: 455 [455–461].
Valid name: Triaenops persicus Dobson, 1871
Syntypes: ZMB 4370 View Materials (two specimens), bodies in alcohol, skulls extracted, male and female; Shiraz [Fars province], Iran; collected by St. John C.S.I, ex ZSI .
Comment: In the general catalogue both specimens are noted as originals of the description. Dobson (1871: 455) described this species using six specimens, but did not designate a holotype. According to Anderson (1881: 112), a third type specimen should exist at the ZMB .
