Valid name: Pteropus conspicillatus Gould, 1850
Paralectotype: ZMB 3811 View Materials , skin and skull, female; Fitzroy Isle, NE Queensland, Australia; collected by McGillivray, 1848, in exchange from BMNH.
Comment: According to Andersen (1912: 380) the [holo]type is in BMNH (1850.7.20.56, skin and 1850.9.6.16 skull), but up to now not identified (Paula Jenkins, pers. com.). We consider Andersen´s identification as lectotype designation .
