Type material (3 exx.). Holotype: CHINA: Ƌ, labeled China: Yunnan, Lincang, Mt.Tangli , 24°01'18''N 99°14'20''E, 1758 m, 2020.ii.25, with Odontotermes termites, sifted, Ji-Shen Wang leg., ủfflfiȏȑḿṫḗflŝḭffi’ ( SNUC) GoogleMaps . Diagnosis. Male. Body moderately stout, length approximately 2.10 mm; antennal club well-formed by enlarged antennomeres 9–11, lacking modification; pronotal length/width approximately 0.93; elytral length/width approximately 0.51; aedeagus slender and symmetrical, oval; each paramere with four setae at apex. Female. Body length 2.07 mm; antennae shorter than male.

Description. Male ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ). Body length 2.09 mm; color red-brown, tarsi and mouthparts paler. Head ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 ) roundly triangular, approximately as long as wide, length from anterior margin of clypeus to base of vertex 0.35 mm, width across eyes 0.37 mm, with short, dense yellow setae; vertex with two asetose foveae, with short longitudinal carina between foveae, area around foveae shallowly impressed; with setose frontal fovea; eyes greatly prominent, each composed of about 50 facets; occiput broadly rounded, with tufts of dense setae; antennae ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ) long and slender, length 1.54 mm; antennomere 1 thick and elongate, antennomeres 2–8 each sub- moniliform, antennomere 9 enlarged, longer than wide, antennomere 10 shorter than 9, slightly longer than wide, antennomeres 11 longest, but shorter than 9 and 10 combined. Pronotum ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 ) slightly wider than long, length along midline 0.41 mm, maximum width 0.45 mm, broadest at apical two-fifths; sides anterior to middle rounded, narrowing anteriorly and posteriorly, anterior margin slightly emarginate medially, posterior margin slightly curved; disc roughly punctate, with setae similar to head, median and lateral antebasal foveae asetose. Elytra ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ) much wider than long, length along suture 0.49 mm, maximum width 0.78 mm; with distinct punctures; discal stria broadly impressed, extending posteriorly to approximately apical two-fifths of elytral length; posterior margin with row of dense setae. Legs elongate, lacking modification. Abdomen ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ) slightly wider than elytra, length along midline 0.84 mm, maximum width 0.79 mm; tergite 1 (IV) widest, basal sulcus filled with dense setae, with row of long setae along posterior margin, tergite 2 (V) longest, about twice as long as tergite 1 (IV), with densely setose basal sulcus, tergites 3 (VI) and 4 (VII) lacking setae in basal sulcus, tergite 3 (VI) about twice as long as tergite 7 (VII). Aedeagus ( Fig. 4C, D View FIGURE 4 ) 0.26 mm long, strongly sclerotized; median lobe symmetrical, sub-elliptical dorso-ventrally, in lateral view tapering toward apex; parameres almost symmetrical, each paramere with two apical and two preapical setae; endophallus comprising single elongate sclerite.

Female. External morphology similar to that of male, antennae shorter, antennomere 11 slightly smaller than male; each eye composed of about 50 facets. Measurements (as for male): body length 2.07 mm; length/width of head 0.34–0.35/ 0.35–0.36 mm; pronotum 0.42–0.44/ 0.44–0.45 mm; elytra 0.46–0.49/ 0.76–0.78 mm; abdomen 0.82–0.83/ 0.79–0.81 mm; length of antenna 1.33 mm.

Comments. The genus Tmesiphorus is a diverse group containing 74 species distributed in Africa (35 spp.), Asia (22 spp.), Australia (14 spp.), North America (2 spp.), and Oceania (1 sp.) ( Inoue et al. 2019; Newton 2020). Among the Asian fauna, Tmesiphorus tanglimontis sp. nov. is distinct in the less greatly modified antennal clubs of the male, relatively short elytra, markedly long tergite 2 (V) in relation to tergite 1 (IV), and unique structure of the aedeagus. The new species differs from T. marani Löbl distributed in eastern Russia and North Korea ( Löbl 1963) by the smaller body size (2.10 mm vs. 3.4 mm), distinctly shorter postocular margins, and median lobe of the aedeagus in lateral view lacking an apical projection; from T. okinawensis Inoue, Maruyama & Nomura recently described from Japan ( Inoue et al. 2019) by the much shorter setae of the body, deeper and broader discal striae of the elytra, and presence of long discal carinae on tergite 1 (IV) (discal carinae lacking in T. okinawensis ).

Distribution. China: Yunnan.

Etymology. The new species is named after the type locality of the new species, i.e., Tangli Mountain.
