Type material. Holotype male (BDN No. 1259), China: Shandong Province, Yantai City, Kunyu Mountain, Jiulongchi, 37°17’24’’N, 121°43’48’’E, 21.viii.1988, J. Li, sweep net. Paratypes: 1 male, as holotype; 2 males, Henan Province, Luoyang City, Song County, Baiyun Mountain National Forest Park, 33°40’48’’N, 111°50’24’’E, 17.vii.1996, 1400 m a.s.l., J. Li, sweep net.
Diagnostic characters. The adult male of the new species can be distinguished from other Compterosmittia by having virga composed of 1 stout middle spine and 2 thin lateral spines, and by dentate megaseta.
Etymology. The specific name is dedicated to Jun Li, who collected the specimen.
Description. Adult male (n = 4)
Total length 1.39–1.85, 1.58 mm. Wing length 0.90–1.11, 1.01 mm. Total length/wing length 1.51–1.68, 1.57. Wing length/length of profemur 2.42–2.56, 2.52.
Coloration. Head, thorax and abdomen light brown. Thorax with dark brown vittae.
Head. AR 0.64–0.71, 0.67. Antenna with 13 flagellomeres, ultimate flagellomere 230–295, 274 μm long. Temporal setae 6–7, 6, including 2–3, 3 inner verticals; 2–3, 3 outer verticals and 0–2, 1 postorbital. Clypeus with 8–11, 10 setae. Tentorium, stipes and cibarial pump as in Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 12 . Tentorium 90–115, 106 μm long, 13–18, 15 μm wide. Stipes 70–88, 76 μm long, 4–5, 5 μm wide. Palpomere lengths (in μm): 13–23, 17; 25–33, 29; 50–65, 58; 38– 68, 54; 83–98, 89. Length ratio of palpomeres 5/3 1.35–1.70, 1.55.
Wing ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ). Anal lobe reduced. VR 1.29–1.56, 1.40. Costal extension 79–115, 102 μm long. Brachiolum with 1 seta. R with 0–2, 1 seta; remaining veins bare. Cu1 moderately sinuous. Squama bare.
Thorax ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ). Dorsocentrals 3–7, 5; acrostichals 6–9, 7; prealars 2. Scutellum with 4 setae.
Legs. Spur of fore tibia 30–35, 31 μm long; spurs of mid tibia 15–25, 20 μm and 13–20, 16 μm long; spurs of hind tibia 26–36, 30 μm and 15–20, 18 μm long. Hind tibial comb with 9 spines, 15–32, 24 μm long. Width of fore tibia at apex 23–30, 25 Μm, of mid tibia 25–29, 26 Μm, of hind tibia 25–33, 29 Μm. Hypopygium ( Figs 10–11 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ). Anal point with rounded apex, 30–45, 37 μm long, 20–23, 21 μm wide at base, with 8 strong lateral setae. Tergite IX without seta, laterosternite IX with 3 setae. Phallapodeme 45–67, 54 μm long. Transverse sternapodeme 60–70, 63 μm long. Gonocoxite 108–125, 117 μm long. Gonostylus 60–73, 67 μm long. Megaseta 6–11, 9 μm long, dentate. Inferior volsella rectangular, 20–25, 22 μm long, with 9–14, 12 setae. Virga 35–41, 38 μm long, composed of 1 stout middle spine and 2 thin lateral spines ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 7 – 12 ). HR 1.71–1.83, 1.77. HV 2.21–2.64, 2.37.
