Records from the study area: Maharashtra—“ Piona indica “ Cook (1967); “ P. indica “ Prasad (1974). Remark: Lundblad (1969) synonymized Piona indica Cook with P. caligifera (Koenike, 1898) . Habitat: Ponds and open wells.

Distribution: Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka.
