Pachysternum Motschulsky, 1863: 446 .

Type species. Pachysternum nigrovittatum Motschulsky, 1863 (designated by Knisch 1924 a: 158). Composition. Contains ten Oriental species, one species distributed in eastern Palaearctic, and 14 African species (one of them, P. capense , also now occurs in Europe and Australia).
