Description. Frons reddish with two dark red spots, base of clypeus with two prominent red marks which are partly fused; red mark on mesonotum small. Male genitalia with pygofer narrow. Genital styles oval, proximal dorsal process short, wide and trapezoid, distal dorsal process elongated. Apical part of aedeagus with a slender, pointed process at its base on the right side, directed dorsad, apex with a similar process which is directed ventrad.
Note. Similar to Saccharodite plurima sp. nov. The above description has been shortened, due to this similarity.
Etymology. The species name is a Latin noun ( aquila = an eagle) used in apposition.
Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 4.2 mm), NORTH BORNEO: BRUNEI; labels: 1) Brunei, Labi / Bukit Teraja / 30km S.E. of Seria / 21–28.iii.1979 2) Primary mixed/dipterocarp/forest, alt. 60m. 3) light trap 2/ 50m. above ground/ L. Sutton /B.M. 1985-50 ( BMNH).
Distribution. North Borneo.
Diagnosis. Saccharodite aquila is similar to Sa. plurima sp. nov., also from Borneo. However, it can be recognized by the smaller red marks on frons and mesonotum and by the structure of the apical part of the male aedeagus.
