( Fig. 271)
Redescription. Forewings broad, 1.8 times longer than wide, length: male 2.3–2.9 mm (mean = 2.5, n = 6), female 2.6–3.1 mm (mean = 2.8, n = 9). Colour stramineous to light brown; dorsal parts of body variable and may be orange or red (in holotype margins of vertex and middle of pronotum and mesonotum red); frons and clypeus may have an orange-brown or orange-red (holotype) longitudinal stripe. Forewings lightly and nearly uniformly infuscated; a red mark may cover bases of 2nd and 3rd subcostal sector and apex of Sc; veins light brown, orange or red; no or very faint spots on base of Sc+R. In profile junction of vertex and face rounded; rostrum clearly surpassing post trochanter. Forewings with Sc+R fork slightly before middle of wing; basal median cell slightly wider than basal cell between Sc+R and M. Male genitalia with pygofer narrow. Genital styles with proximal dorsal process short, curved caudad and pointed at the tip; distal dorsal process elongated. Aedeagus small; apical portion short with a dorsal impression and ending into two short lobes.
Etymology. We consider the species name to be a latinized adjective (guamanus, -a, -um = from Guam). The name seems to have been formed similar to 'africanus' from Africa and 'formosanus' from Formosa.
Type material. Holotype ♂ GUAM ISLAND; labels: 1) Talofofo Guam/ 6-17-36 2) O.H. Swezey / Collector 3 ) Holotype 4) Muiralyricen / ruber/ Det. Z.P.M. Metc. ( BPBM #5377 About BPBM ) .

Distribution. Guam Isl., Palau Isl.
Diagnosis. Saccharodite guamana shows considerable variation in coloration, but can be distinguished from Sa. basipunctulata (Melichar) , also found in Palau, and other closely related species by the uniformly or nearly uniformly infuscated forewings, by the veins being usually uniformly coloured (pale brown, orange, or red), and by spots on the base of Sc + R being either absent or very faint. While the holotype is badly damaged (rostrum, legs, forewings, one hindwing and abdomen are missing), the species is sufficiently characterized by the original description and by one of the paratypes (two other specimens in BPBM bearing paratype labels do not agree with the data given by Metcalf) .
