Material examined. Holotype male ( RMNH). Indonesia: Central Sulawesi: Lore Lindu National Park, Sopu River bank, alt. 930 m, 6–7.xii.1985, J. Krikken pw47; sandy river beach in forest region, human excrement traps.

The 66 paratypes are summarized below:

CENTRAL SULAWESI: LORE LINDU NATIONAL PARK

Description. Holotype, male. Body length approximately 5.6 mm. Indistinctly patterned (dorsal pattern more distinct in paratypes), black-brown and orange-yellow, largely matt. Pilosity white (or pale yellow), dorsal side with numerous distinct setae; elytral interstriae finely asperate-setose.

Cephalic outline charateristic, Fig. 47 View FIGURES 47 – 55 ; clypeus anteromedially with pair of distinctly reflexed, subtriangular denticles, emargination deep; clypeogenal transition continuous at border, clypeal border sinuate near denticles; clypeofrontal ridge absent; cephalic surface with uneven double punctation (crowded in front); primary punctures distinct, sparse, mostly bearing short, erect seta; clypeus and median part of frons shiny, remainder matt, microreticulate (x60). Frons with slight pair of callosities between anterior part of eyes, vertex lacking distinct ornamentation. Eyes with approximately 7 facet rows across widest point; ratio interocular distance / single maximum eye width approximately 9.

Pronotum slightly convex, midline not impressed; anterior section of lateral border widely, evenly round; anterolateral angle approximately 80°; posterior section of lateral border scarcely sinuate; base medially indistinctly marginate; entire pronotal derm with abundant, seta-bearing (sub)ocellate punctation; setae approximately 3 times puncture diameters; punctures on disc mostly separated by 3–4 diameters.

Elytral striae discally well defined with distinct punctures, mainly separated by 2–4 times their diameter, slightly crenulating interstriae; interstriae almost flat, microreticulate (x80), with seta-bearing granules (asperate, x40) arranged in 2 irregular rows, interstria 1 with single row; peripheral surfaces of elytra with yellow patches, remainder brown.

Antennal club grayish brown. Metaventrite without distinct midline impression; disc with sparse, seta-bearing punctures; lateral wings with sparse, seta-bearing, ocellate punctures, microreticulate (x80). Abdominal ventrites each with transverse row of seta-bearing punctures. Pygidium dark, matt, small, virtually flat, subtriangular, base with transverse ridge; surface with sparse, seta-bearing punctures.

Protibia slender, distally curved inwards, with 3+(1) larger denticles, spur deflexed, acuminate; proximal serration with at least approximately 15 small denticles. Mesotibiae and metatibiae slender, spurs unmodified. Profemoral underside moderately punctate-setose; underside of mesofemora and metafemora sparsely punctatesetose. Metatarsomere 1 nearly as long as metatarsomeres 2–5 combined; approximate proportions of spur and tarsomeres 1–5: 20// 20/8/5 /4/7.

Aedeagus, Fig. 51 View FIGURES 47 – 55 (paratype).

Measurements in mm. Maximum width of head 1.8. Median length of pronotum 2.0, maximum width 3.2. Sutural length of elytra 2.6, maximum width 3.3.

Variation and sexual dimorphism. Body length 4.2–6.6 mm. Markings on pronotum, elytra, and other parts variable, usually distinct, (sub)symmetrical. Compare the apparently unusually light colour of the holotype with the illustrations of the paratypes.

Female with slightly different cephalic outline and with slightly arcuate clypeofrontal ridge. Legs different, protibia more robust, slightly curved, spur simply elongate-acuminate.

Etymology. Named after a river (in Lore Lindu National Park) on the banks of which this species was discovered. This non-Latinized species name should be treated as a noun in apposition.
