Nomina dubia

The subsequent discussion highlights a number of species as being currently unidentifiable (their names being considered nomina dubia ). The analysis of these cases is not the focus of this paper, and their treatment is kept intentionally concise; they are included only because they are reported as British species in the Spiders of Europe species list underlying the tree construction. Most British checklists have, for a long time, informally excluded these names, but a formal published analysis similar to Breitling et al. (2015, 2016) might be useful, even if the classic twentieth-century authors seem to have been unsuccessful in working out the identity of these species.
