Ammophila erythropus F. SMITH 1856: 213 . Substitute name for Ammophila rufipes LEPELETIER.
R e c o g n i t i o n The female of Podalonia erythropus View in CoL has a propodeal enclosure with erect setae, the gaster is basally red, the scutum has a dense punctation (at least on anterior half), the punctures are at most one diameter apart. Arolia are distinct and the clypeus and frons are covered by appressed silver setae. In addition, legs, petiole and apical part of clypeus are reddish-brown, the wings distinctly yellowish and the petiole is as long as hindtarsomere I; OOD: POD = 33: 20 and flagellomere I: II = 60: 45.
