Ypsilandra Franchet (1887 View in CoL – 1888: 93, t. 17; 1888: 131, t. 17). Type:― Helonias thibetica (Franch.) N.Tanaka View in CoL (≡ Ypsilandra thibetica Franch. View in CoL ).

Japanese name:―Chibetto (Tibet)-shôjôbakama asetsu.

Species included:―5; Helonias alpina , H. jinpingensis , H. parviflora , H. thibetica , H. yunnanensis .

Description:―Leaves usually hysteranthous, rarely proteranthous. Inflorescence racemose. Flowers sometimes unilateral, usually adichogamous, rarely protogynous ( H. thibetica ). Tepals distinct, adaxially almost flat or slightly canaliculate toward base. Nectary at base of tepal nearly flat or slightly concave. Inner filaments adnate basally to base of ovary. Anthers basifixed, unilocular. Styles 3, connate proximally to almost entirely. Stigma trisected to slightly trilobed, rarely discoid or (sub)capitate. Flowering spring, rarely late summer to early autumn ( H. jinpingensis ).

Distribution:― Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Vietnam (Figs. 15, 31-2, 32-2).
