Identification. Third infraorbital not in contact with the preopercle. Lateral line complete, with 35–38 pored scales. No lamellar flaps over pores of lateral line scales. Anal fin short with 9–12 branched rays. Pelvic fins with short hooks on rays (usually shorter than the width of

the branched rays). Eye diameter: 21.8–26.8% HL. Body with dorsal portion with dark reticulated pattern formed by pigmentation concentrated on distal portion of scales. Dark humeral blotch vertically elongated. Middle cau- dal-fin rays without a dark horizontal stripe (Albornoz- Garzón et al. 2018).
