Identification. Mouth with spoon-shaped teeth. Plates in the skin between the dorsal fin and the lateral plates an- terior of the dorsal-fin spine 1 to more of 6. Pectoral-fin spine reach 2–3 plates beyond the pelvic fin when de- pressed ventrally to the pelvic fin. Caudal-fin spines with spots ( Armbruster 2003).
