Arpactophilus abdominalis Bohart, 1999 View in CoL

( Figs. 23–24 View FIGURES 23 – 28 )

Arpactophilus abdominalis Bohart, 1999: 98 View in CoL [♀: holotype MNHN].

Diagnosis. Arpactophilus abdominalis is the only New Caledonian species in the genus with the combination of a bulge on sternum II (as in Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 4 ), a red metasoma, yellow mandible ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 23 – 28 ), two submarginal cells, and a complete occipital carina ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 5 – 9 ).

Remarks. Bohart (1999) failed to mention the structure of the occipital carina in the original description despite the fact that A. abdominalis is one of the few species with two submarginal cells to have a continuous carina.

Material examined. 4 ♀: (1x) “ NEW CALEDONIA 9902: 21°47’S x 166°04’E, 450m, Mt Do gate. 27 Nov 2000. GB Monteith. Pyrenthrum, trunks & logs” [QM]; (1x) “ NEW CALEDONIA 9955: 22°06’S x 166°39’E, Riv.
