Melese flavipuncta Rothschild, 1909a: 49 . — Type locality: Trinidad [& Tobago], [ Caroni ], Caparo. — Type specimen: Holotype male (BMNH).

Melese surdus Rothschild, 1909b: 273 . — Type locality: [ Brazil], Amazonas, Fonte Boa; Suriname, [Sipaliwini], Aroewarwa Creek, Maroewyn Valley ; Guyana, [Potaro- Siparuni], Tumatumari. — Type specimens: Described from 2 male and 9 female syntypes (1 male specimen from Guyana labeled TYPE in BMNH) .
