Barneby (1991) apparently saw no records of M. skinneri from Bolivia, but two more recent collections (J.R.I. Wood & D. Soto 27171, K, LPB, USZ; J.R.I. Wood & F. Mamami 13469, K, LPB, USZ), both from the vicinity of Santiago de Chiquitos, confirm the occurrence of this species in the cerrados of eastern Bolivia.
