Valid name: Crocidura hirta Peters, 1852

Holotype (as indicated in the original description): ZMB 671 (= A 5523 and An 17023), female, skin, skull. Collected by W. Peters from “Inhofa”, along Zambesi River, Tette, Mozambique, between 1843 and 1847.
