Figs 10–18 View FIGURES 10 – 14 View FIGURES 15 – 18. 15 – 16

Material examined: Holotype female labeled CHILE, Las Cruces, Cord. Parral, X.1958, L. E. Peña. Paratypes (2 females, 1 male). CHILE, Coquimbo Prov., Tilama El Naranjo, X.1967, L.E. Peña (1♀). CHILE, Hda Illapel, Coquimbo, 28.X.1954, L. Peña (1♀). CHILE, R. Marga-Marga, Valparaiso, 11.–12.IX.1954, L. E. Peña (1♂). All type material deposited in CNC.

Etymology: The species name refers to the two brown maculae of the fore wing; maculata (Latin, adjective) = singular, feminine.

Diagnosis and identification: Scrobes reticulate similar to rest of head. Antennae low on head, toruli nearly reaching imaginary line drawn between ventral margins of eyes; funicular segments elongate, almost 2× as long as broad, with two or three rows of MPS on each segment. Mesoscutum relatively long, only 1–1.22× as broad as long. Frenum developed, finely alutaceous. Propodeum finely alutaceous; median carina developed in anterior three-quarters, consisting of two very close carinae that diverge posteriorly. Fore wing with speculum and two brown maculae on disc (one wide open C-shape below parastigmal, marginal and postmarginal veins, second at apical margin of wing). Hind femur with one distinct long tooth in apical quarter; hind basitarsus almost half length of hind tibia. Ovipositor 1.2–1.33× as long as the body.

Description: FEMALE. Holotype. Body length excluding ovipositor 4.8 mm; length of ovipositor 5.7 mm. Vertex, dorsal part of mesosoma including lateral panels of pronotum, mesepimeron, metapleuron and propodeum, and metasoma coppery-blue. Face, clypeus, genae, occiput, scape, coxae, prepectus and mesepisternum with dark blue-green reflections. Femora mostly dark coppery-blue ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10 – 14 ). Pedicel, flagellum, tegulae and ovipositor dark brown. Tarsal segments, tibiae and femora apically dark yellow. Wing venation and setae brown. Fore wing disc with two brown maculae, one in apical part of wing ending in front of beginning of postmarginal vein and second wide open C-shaped macula reaching between parastigma and stigmal vein.

Head. 1.2× as broad as high; 2.12× as broad as long; 1.25× broader than mesonotum at its widest part in dorsal view; HTE:LTE 1.53; HTE:msp 1.83. Temples 0.39× LTE. Head alutaceous, including scrobes, and with thin, short, white setae on face, vertex and temples. Clypeus with anterior margin more or less straight. Mouth 1.87× msp. Antenna with scape 4.08× as long as broad at its widest part, not reaching ventral margin of anterior ocellus; toruli inserted on a line connecting ventral margins of eyes ( Figs 11, 12 View FIGURES 10 – 14 ); relative measurements of segments = 49:19:5:20:22:22:21:21:21:15:30; pedicel 1.9×, anellus 0.56×, F1 1.82×, F2 2×, F3 2×, F4 1.91×, F5 1.91×, F6 1.83×, F7 1.25× and clava 2.5× as long as broad; claval segments and F1–F6 with three ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 10 – 14 ), F7 with two rows of MPS. POL 1.33× OOL, OOL 1.5× OD.

Mesosoma. Mesosoma 2.37× as long as broad. Pronotum in dorsal view 1.3× as broad as long, mesoscutum 1.22× as broad as long. Pronotum, mesonotum and scutellum except for frenal area coarsely alutaceous, and with thin, short, erect white setae ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 15 – 18. 15 – 16 ). Scutellum 1.36× as broad as long with well delimited frenal area; frenal area very finely alutaceous, nearly smooth, and 0.38× as long as entire scutellum. Propodeum at most finely alutaceous between median carina and spiracle, with median carina developed in anterior three-quarters and consisting of two very close carinae that diverge posteriorly ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 15 – 18. 15 – 16 ). Upper mesepimeron with small, elongated fovea centrally. Metapleuron alutaceous and with setae in distal two-thirds. Hind leg with coxa relatively long, 2.61× as long as broad and 0.73× as long as femur; disc of coxa reticulate with rows of erect setae dorsally and within basal onethird laterally; femur 4.57× as long as broad with single, long tooth in distal quarter; tibia 7.56× as long as broad with two relatively short spurs, longer spur 1.44× as long as shorter one and 0.33× as long as basitarsus; basitarsus 0.51× as long as tibia. Fore wing 2.8× as long as wide, with two brown spots, with dense brown setae except basal cell and costal cell with only a few setae dorsally and distally ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 10 – 14 ); marginal vein 2.59× as long as postmarginal vein and 5.5× as long as stigmal vein; stigmal vein elongate, 3.2× as long as broad at its broadest part; stigmal uncus long, reaching beyond mid-length of stigmal vein; venation pale brown.

Metasoma. 1.1× as long as mesosoma; in lateral view oblong, 2.07× as long as high; in dorsal view 0.86× as wide as mesosoma. Petiole short, dorsally transverse. Gaster smooth or at most with very shallow alutaceous sculpture on sides; lateral panels of gastral segments with several long white setae, especially on Gt3–5; only Gt1 medially emarginate; hypopygium reaching to 0.93× length of gaster. Ovipositor 2.5× as long as metasoma, ovipositor index 4.12.

MALE. Length of body 4.3 mm. Similar to female except as follows: scape more transverse, broadest in the middle, 2.21× as long as broad; relative measurements of segments = 42:14:5:21:23:21:20:20:21:18:34; pedicel 1.27×, anellus 0.56×, F1 1.62×, F2 1.64×, F3 1.50×, F4 1.43×, F5 1.43×, F6 1.50×, F7 1.29× and clava 2.43× as long as broad. POL 1.25× OOL, OOL 1.78× OD. Mouth 2.08× as long as msp. Head in upper part of upper face below posterior ocelli with one shallow but visible hollow on each side ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 15 – 18. 15 – 16 ). Hind basitarsus only 0.43× as long as hind tibia. Fore wing with marginal vein only 2.44× as long as postmarginal vein. Metasoma 2.29× as long as high; all tergites without emargination.

Variation. There is nearly no variability in coloration, at most the lateral surface of the mesosoma of some females is more bluish. The length of the body varies from 4.8–6 mm and length of the ovipositor from 5.75–6.5 mm (i.e. OI = 4.12–4.44). All measurements are similar to the holotype except the following: head 2–2.36× as long as broad and 1.14–1.43× as broad as mesonotum; HTE:msp 1.83–2.31; scape 4.08–4.69× as long as broad; fore wing 2.62–2.88× as long as wide; postmarginal vein 4.83–5.50× as long as stigmal vein.
