This tick has been reported in Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama and Venezuela in marsupials and rodents ( Barros-Battesti et al. 2006; Vásquez et al. 2011; Lopez 2017); some authors suggest that this species could reproduce by parthenogenesis and that the male does not attach to the host. Type: USNTC, BMNH ( Barros-Battesti et al. 2006).
