Promalactis longiclavata Wang , sp. nov.
( Figs 15 View FIGURES 9–16 , 48 View FIGURES 46–51 )
Type material. Thailand: Holotype ♂, Kanchanaburi Kwae Yai Road , 30 m, 8–9.I.1986, leg. M.G. Allen, slide No. NHMUK010316928 About NHMUK .
Paratype. 1♂, same data as holotype .
Diagnosis. The new species can be distinguished in the male genitalia by the valva slightly necked at distal 1/5, the band-like sacculus with an elongate free distal process, and the quadrate juxta with a longer basal lobe.
Description. Adult ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 9–16 ). Forewing length 4.0– 4.5 mm.
Head. Vertex snowy white, frons greyish brown, occiput deep rust brown. Labial palpus with second segment deep rust brown on outer surface, orange yellow on inner surface; third segment black except white basally. Antennal scape snowy white dorsally, grey ventrally; flagellum black alternating with white except basal several flagellomeres white dorsally, greyish brown ventrally,
Thorax. Mesonotum and tegula deep rust brown. Forewing deep rust brown; basal fascia white edged with black scales, slender, from dorsum oblique inward to base of costal margin; antemedian fascia white edged with black scales, from beyond middle of dorsum oblique to basal 1/4 of costal margin, wider anteriorly, parallel with basal fascia; costal spot white edged with black scales, rounded, from distal 1/3 extending to posterior angle of cell; tornal spot black with grey scales, diffused to costal spot anteriorly; apical spot black, diffused along costal margin to costal spot and along termen; fringe orange yellow, except black along distal part of costal margin and greyish black around tornus. Hindwing and fringe grey. Foreleg black except femur pale grey ventrally, tibia with white spot at base and middle, with a tuft of white scales at apex, tarsus white at apices of basal two tarsomeres and on entire apical tarsomere; midleg pale grey ventrally, black dorsally, tibia with a white spot at apex, tarsus white at apices of basal two tarsomeres and on entire apical tarsomere; hindleg yellowish brown ventrally, black dorsally, tarsus with basal tarsomere white at apex, distal four tarsomeres white.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 46–51 ). Uncus broad triangular, wide at base, narrowed to apex. Gnathos same length as uncus; mesial plate triangular, wide at base, narrowed to rounded apex, squamous distally. Tegumen furcate from middle; lateral arm narrowed to pointed anterior end. Valva parallel in basal 1/4, narrowed from basal 1/4 to distal 1/5 where a neck is formed, then slightly broadened to rounded apex; costa slightly convex near base; sacculus band-like, distal process elongate, clubbed, densely setose, curved obliquely dorsad, not reaching apex of valva. Saccus slightly shorter than valva, broad at base, narrowed to basal 1/3, distal 2/3 uniformly slender, narrowly rounded at apex. Juxta quadrate, narrowly sclerotized on posterior margin; basal lobe slender, longer. Phallus approx. 1.3 times length of valva, tapered distally; cornutus spine-shaped, approx. 1/6 length of phallus.
Female unknown.
Distribution. Thailand.
Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin longus and clavatus, referring to the elongate free distal process of the sacculus.
