Homoneura (Homoneura) pilifera View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs. 10, 21, 32, 41, 86–90)
Diagnosis. Face without spots. Antenna blackish brown except dull brown ventrally and around arista. Wing with a narrow brown stripe on dm-cu. Abdominal tergites 3–6 each with a black median spot and tergites 3–5 with a pair of blackish brown lateral posterior bands.
Description. MALE. Body length 4.2 mm, wing length 4.0 mm.
Head ( Fig. 10) pale yellow. Face without spots. Frons about as long as wide and parallel–sided, with two narrow blackish gray stripes along or rows and a narrow brown triangular median stripe, extending to ocellar triangle; ocellar triangle grayish black; oc strong, about as long as anterior or, anterior or slightly shorter than posterior or. Gena about 1/9 height of eye. Occiput with a wide grayish black stripe confluent with ocellar triangle. Antenna blackish brown except dull brown ventrally and around arista, 1st flagellomere 1.8 times longer than high; arista long plumose, black except brownish basally, with longest hairs longer than height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis yellowish brown, with yellowish and blackish hairs; palpus pale yellow with blackish hairs.
Thorax ( Fig. 21) blackish brown with grayish white pruinescence, with two narrow yellow stripes along dc rows. Mesoscutum with white pruinescence on anterior margin, 0+3 dc (anterior dc clearly behind transverse scutal suture), acr in 8 somewhat irregular rows. prsc shorter than anterior dc. Anepisternum blackish brown except yellow posterior ventral apical corner, pteropleuron and dorsal margin of katepisternum blackish brown. Scutellum brownish black except yellow apical margin, with yellowish gray pruinescence. Scutellum brownish black except yellow apical margin, with yellowish gray pruinescence. Legs pale yellow, but all tarsi dark yellow except tarsomere 5 brown on apical half; hind tibia with an incomplete brown basal ring. Fore femur with 4 strong pv and 6 pd, ctenidium with 10 short bristles; fore tibia with 1 long preapical ad and 1 short apv. Mid femur with 5 a and 1 apv; mid tibia with 1 strong preapical ad and 3 strong apv. Hind femur with 1 preapical ad; hind tibia with 1 weak preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing ( Fig. 32) slightly yellow, with a narrow brown stripe on dm-cu; subcostal cell hyaline; costa with 2nd (between R 1 and R 2+3), 3rd (between R 2+3 and R 4+5) and 4th (between R 4+5 and M 1) sections in proportion of 2.1: 0.7: 0.3; r-m before middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 1.4: 0.9; ultimate section of CuA 1 about 1/6 of penultimate. Halter pale yellow.
Abdomen ( Fig. 41) yellow with sparse silvery white pruinescence; tergites 3–6 each with a black median spot; tergites 3–5 with a pair of blackish brown lateral posterior bands. Male genitalia ( Figs. 86–90): protandrium circular, with a membranous trapeziform ventral process, and with 1 setula around spiracle; epandrium nearly oblong in posterior view, surstylus consisting of a columniform process and a claviform process; hypandrium with a pair of ventral processes, hypandrial apodeme not distinct; gonopod columniform; aedeagus with a small apical incision, a pair of slender dorsal sclerites excurved apically, and a pair of long coniform lateral processes at base.
FEMALE. Unknown.
Type material. Holotype ♂ ( CAU), CHINA, Yunnan Province: Xishuangbanna, Mengla, Bubeng Village , 11. V. 2009, Tingting Zhang.
Distribution. China (Yunnan).
Remarks. The new species is somewhat similar to Homoneura (Homoneura) convergens Shi & Yang from China (Yunnan) in the following characters: wing with a narrow brown stripe on dm-cu; abdominal tergites 2–6 each with a blackish brown median spot and/or a pair of posterior bands; protandrium circular with a ventral process; surstylus consisting of 2 processes; aedeagus with a small apical incision. But it can be separated from the latter by the following features: face without spots; r-m before middle of discal cell; abdominal tergite 2 without median spots; protandrium with 1 setula around spiracle; gonopod columniform; aedeagus with a pair of long coniform lateral processes at base. In H. (H.) convergens , the face has one or two spots; r-m is at middle of the discal cell; the abdominal tergite 2 has a median spot; the protandrium has no setula around the spiracle; the gonopod is coniform; the aedeagus has no lateral process basally (Shi & Yang 2009).
Etymology. Latin, pilifera , meaning setulae, referring to the protandrium having a setulae around spiracle;
