Homoneura (Homoneura) latizona View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 8, 19, 30, 39, 76–80)

Diagnosis. Face without spots. Antennal scape and pedicel black, 1st flagellomere yellow except brown in apical half, with longest hairs longer than height of 1st flagellomere. Wing slightly yellow, without markings. Abdominal tergites 3–6 each with a blackish brown triangular median spot, tergites 2–6 each with a pair of blackish brown lateral posterior bands, confluent with black median spot on tergite 3.

Description. MALE. Body length 3.5–3.9 mm, wing length 3.8–4.2 mm. FEMALE. Body length 3.7–4.0 mm, wing length 3.6–3.9 mm.

Head ( Fig. 8) pale yellow. Face without spots; Frons about as long as wide and parallel–sided, with two narrow blackish gray stripes along or rows and a narrow brown triangular median stripe extending to ocellar triangle; ocellar triangle grayish black; oc strong, shorter than anterior or, anterior or slightly shorter than posterior or. Gena about 1/7 height of eye. Occiput with a wide grayish black stripe confluent with ocellar triangle. Antennal scape and pedicel black, 1st flagellomere yellow except brown in apical half, 2.5 times longer than high; arista long plumose, fuscous except brownish basally, with longest hairs longer than height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis yellowish brown, with yellowish and blackish hairs; palpus pale yellow with blackish hairs.

Thorax ( Fig. 19) blackish brown with grayish white pruinescence. Mesoscutum with white pruinescence on anterior margin, 0+3 dc (anterior dc clearly behind transverse scutal suture), acr in 8 somewhat irregular rows; prsc shorter than anterior dc. Anepisternum blackish brown except yellow ventral apical corner, pteropleuron and dorsal margin of katepisternum blackish brown. Scutellum brownish black except yellow apical margin, with yellowish gray pruinescence. Legs pale yellow, but all tarsi dark yellow except tarsomere 5 brown on apical half; hind tibia with an incomplete brown basal ring. Fore femur with 4 strong pv and 5–6 pd, ctenidium with 10–12 short bristles; fore tibia with 1 long preapical ad and 2 short apv. Mid femur with 5 a and 1 apv; mid tibia with 1 strong preapical ad and 3 strong apv. Hind femur with 1 preapical ad; hind tibia with 1 weak preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing ( Fig. 30) slightly yellow, without markings; subcostal cell hyaline; costa with 2nd (between R 1 and R 2+3), 3rd (between R 2+3 and R 4+5) and 4th (between R 4+5 and M 1) sections in proportion of 1.8: 0.6: 0.4; r-m before middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 1.5: 0.9; ultimate section of CuA 1 about 1/6 of penultimate. Halter pale yellow.

Abdomen ( Fig. 39) yellow with sparse silvery white pruinescence; tergites 3–6 each with a blackish brown triangular median spot, tergites 2–6 each with a pair of blackish brown lateral posterior bands, confluent with black median spot on tergite 3. Male genitalia ( Figs. 76–80): protandrium circular, with a short broad ventral process, and with 1 setula around spiracle; epandrium nearly oblong in lateral view, surstylus consisting of an acuate lateral process, a straight claviform process and a recurved claviform process, and furcated in posterior view; hypandrium with a pair of long apodemes and a small apodeme at median incision; gonopod columniform, slightly curved; aedeagus with a large apical incision, a pair of dorsal sclerites and 3 pairs of preapical dorsal teeth.

Type material. Holotype ♂ ( CAU), CHINA, Yunnan Province: Xishuangbanna, Mengla, Bubeng Village , 11. V. 2009, Tingting Zhang . Paratypes: CHINA, Yunnan Province: 1 ♂, 2 ♀ ( CAU), Xishuangbanna, Mengla, Bubeng Village , 11. V. 2009, Tingting Zhang ; 1 ♂, 2 ♀ ( CAU), Xishuangbanna, Mengla, Bubeng Village , 8. V. 2009, Guoquan Wang ; 1 ♂ ( CAU), Xishuangbanna, Mengla, Bubeng Village , 10. V. 2009, Tingting Zhang ; 1 ♀ ( CAU), Xishuangbanna, Mengla, Bubeng Village , 9. V. 2009, Tingting Zhang .

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Remarks. The new species is somewhat similar to Homoneura (Homoneura) yunnanensis Li, Li & Yang from China (Yunnan) in the following characters: face without spots; antennal 1st flagellomere bicolor; abdominal tergites 2–6 each with a blackish brown median spot and/or a pair of posterior bands; protandrium circular with a ventral process; gonopod columniform. But it can be separated from the latter by the following features: antennal 1st flagellomere yellow except brown in apical half; wing without markings; abdominal tergite 6 with a blackish brown triangular median spot and a pair of blackish brown lateral posterior bands; protandrium with 1 setula around spiracle; surstylus consisting of 2 processes; aedeagus with a large apical incision. In H. (H.) yunnanensis , the 1st flagellomere is brown except the apex is yellow; the wing has a brown stripe on dm-cu; the abdominal tergite 6 only has a blackish brown median spot; the protandrium has no setulae around spiracle; the surstylus is consisting of 3 processes; the aedeagus apical incision is small ( Li, Li & Yang 2008).

Etymology. Latin, lati -, prefix meaning lateral + zona, meaning band, referring to the abdominal tergites 2–6 each having a pair of blackish brown lateral posterior bands.
