Type species: Protohelius issikii Alexander, 1928 View in CoL (original designation).
Diagnosis. Prescutum without prescutal and tuberculate pits. Wing with R 1 erect at tip, erect part sometimes indistinct; R 3 very short, at most 1/4 length of R 4, basal half erect like crossvein; M 1+2 not forked. Legs with tibial spurs absent.
Remarks. This genus includes seven species (1 sp. in the Palaearctic, 2 spp. in the Neoptropical, and 4 spp. in the Oriental Regions) ( Oosterbroek 2021).
